LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The Strathcona County Garden Club gardens within Treaty 6 Territory and the Métis homelands of District 11. Our activities and gatherings take place on the traditional lands of many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples.  We would like to acknowledge Nehiyaw (Cree), Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Anishinaabe (Saulteaux), Denesuline (Dene), and Nakota Sioux (Stoney) who have lived on this land for thousands of years. We acknowledge the sacred connection that Indigenous Peoples have with the land, and we strive to be mindful of our own relationship with Mother Earth as we tend to the gardens and green spaces of Strathcona County. We offer our gratitude to the traditional Guardians of this land, to guide us on our continued journey of reconciliation.
